Custom-built for the UK's Ministry of Defense in the 1970s, the Military Submariner, or MilSub for short, is a highly-desirable watch, with fewer than 1,200 believed to have been handed out, and only a tenth or so of those still in existence. This particular example was issued to a former Royal Navy diver in 1977, and sold to the current owner — himself a professional diver — in the early 1980s. The watch has a circle T marking on the dial indicating Tritium lume, Sword hands, and military markings on the caseback. Despite the bezel being lost on a dive in the 1990s, the 38mm watch and its NATO strap brought in nearly $240,000 over the weekend at Bonhams Fine Watches auction.
