2006 SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITION, CO-SPONSORED by THEOCEANROAMER
In July 2006 25+ researchers, scientists and Red Sea professionals embarked on two main ships, The MSY Elegante and The MSY San Marco, departing from Port Sudan for a three weeks 'cataloging' Expedition reviewing the M.P.A's of The Sudan.
This expedition was organized and financed by the following entities:
AFP - African Parks Foundation under the leadership of the late Mr. Paul Fentener van Vlissingen. The Cousteau Society, The Sudanese Ministries of The Red Sea, Tourism, wildlife and fisheries. THEOCEANROAMER | OCEANROAMERS provided logistical, managerial, operational, and human resources.
It was a very demanding but an equally successful expedition, and although a 100 dives a day were made during the entire duration, in one of the world's most remote locations. Nothing major happened with regards to safety. The expedition yielded 1800+ pictures and an hour of video material, including the short TV Documentary for the Dutch Programmer - Twee Vandaag.
