Shark Gobbles Up Camera, Captures What It Looks Like to Get Eaten

Ever wonder what it looks like to get eaten by a shark? A cinematographer recently had his underwater action camera gobbled up by a shark, and the 360-degree camera captured a fascinating look inside the creature’s mouth.

Filmmaker, ocean lover, and conservationistZimy Da Kidwas doing a documentary shoot in the ocean when one of the sharks circling around him decided to swim over and give the camera equipment a taste.

As the 27-second video above shows, the camera went pretty deep into the shark’s mouth as it chomped down multiple times, and the resulting footage shows the shark’s razor-sharp teeth, the gills on the inner walls, and the closed throat.

The hungry and curious shark.

What’s interesting is that once you go beyond the line of scary-looking teeth, the inner areas of the shark’s mouth appear to be very smooth and clean.

Upon realizing that the camera was not very suitable for consumption, the shark finally spit it out and swam away.

The camera involved in this encounter was a $390 Insta360 ONE X2 pocket action camera, which can shoot 360-degree footage in 5.7K resolution. Other features include an invisible selfie stick, waterproofing down to 10 meters (~33ft), steady cam mode, FlowState stabilization, an ultra-bright touchscreen, and 360-degree audio with 4 built-in microphones.

Zimy Da Kid says he hopes his underwater documentary work can help make an impact in causing people to love and protect our planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

“As an artist, creator and ocean lover, I truly believe that, through filmmaking and cinematography, we have a major role to play when it comes to conservation and fighting for the natural world,” he wrote on Facebook in January 2022. “Art has this unique power of being able to create emotions within people and once people start loving something, they start caring about it and protecting it. This is exactly what I want to do through my art!

“I want to inspire other creators to use their skills and talent to create meaningful things, things that will raise awareness, things that will not only generate emotions but that will also educate people about the huge challenges that nature is facing nowadays.

“As an artist there’s simply no greater feeling than creating art with a purpose. There’s so much to lose in this world, which also means that there’s so much worth fighting for…”
