Sea&Sea has confirmed that its DX-6G housing—which is designed for the Ricoh WG-70, WG-60 and WG-50 rugged compact cameras—is also compatible with the latest model, the WG-80, which was announced in May. According to Sea&Sea, the WG-80 can be inserted into the housing “by removing two rubber parts inside the front case. The rubber parts can be easily detached with a fingertip.” See the diagram below.
The WG-80, like its predecessors, features a 16MP 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor, a 28–140mm equiv. f/3.5–5.5 lens, and a built-in ring light for shooting macro. While the camera is freezeproof down to 14ºF (–10ºC) and can survive falls up to 5 feet (1.6m), it is only waterproof down to 46 feet (14m) for two hours! Hence, Sea&Sea’s housing—with its depth rating of 180 feet (55m)—is an essential purchase for anyone who wants to use this camera for any level of serious underwater photography.
